Trip Plan – Owen Springs Reserve Night Run/BBQ
Trip Leader: Kirsten Johnston
Plan: Meet at the Heavy Tree Gap servo at 16.45 for a prompt 17.00 departure. We will drive south along the Stuart Highway and then turn into the Owen Springs Reserve. The idea is to have a BBQ at Redbank Waterhole and then drive the remainder of the track at night. We will return via Larapinta Drive. The whole trip is around 170km.
Track conditions: Sealed on the Stuart Highway and Larapinta Drive. The Owen Springs track consists of sandy river beds and gravel, so 4WD is essential.
Please bring:
• Meat/salad for the BBQ (we will bring the Club BBQ)
• Recovery gear
• UHF radio
• Torch (head lamp)
• Air compressor
• Chairs
• Enough fuel/water for the trip
In case of emergency:
• All vehicles will have personal details (medical) for each driver and passenger/s stored in envelopes in their vehicles glove box.
• The trip leader will travel with a SPOT tracker and first aid kit.
Please leave your pets at home!
