place
John Flynn's Grave Historical Reserve
Hi everyone. I have been giving the go ahead by CLC to visit the ruins of the Jay Creek settlement just past the Standly Chasm turn off.
Plan is to meet Flynn’s grave Sunday 20th 10am travel out. Have a few hours looking around. Planning to have a BBQ picnic lunch by the waterhole and if anyone’s really keen that can have a swim.
Jay Creek or Iwupataka is in the MacDonnell Ranges 45 kilometres (28 mi) west of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory in Australia. It was once the home of The Bungalow. The settlement is now largely abandoned and is considered a ghost town and it is a significant site for many Aboriginal people who were sent to The Bungalow or later sent there when it became a Reserve and their descendants. This includes many Arrernte, Luritja and Pitjantjatjara people.
