Gosses Bluff Crater
4 May by Aaron Fredric
Well… this trip didn’t quite go to plan—but that’s half the fun of getting out bush.
We kicked things off with 4 cars heading out, originally planning to stop in at Hermannsburg Historic Precinct, only to find out it’s now permanently closed. Bit of a curveball, but we pushed on.
Next stop was Gosse's Bluff, but again plans changed—no camping allowed as it’s a sorry site. Still an impressive place to visit and well worth the look.
So, we adjusted and made our way through to 2 Mile near Glen Helen Gorge, where we set up camp for the night.
And honestly—that’s where the trip really came together.
We had a great night around the fire, played a few card games, shared a couple of beers, and had plenty of laughs. Just a good crew enjoying what these trips are all about.
Sunday morning we were up early and headed into Standley Chasm for a well-earned coffee. Pete peeled off and headed home, while Kevin decided to stick around, camp another night, and make the most of the local walks in the area.
Not every trip goes to plan—but this one still delivered. Good people, good spots, and a reminder that sometimes the best parts are the unplanned ones.
