Water Tank track.

I’m really going against my norm by actually do a bloody trip report, but let’s go.
The meeting place was set as 10am at the Larapinta IGA. At around 10am. Jason in his amazing example of a GQ patrol, Aaron, Georgie Arwin in Porkchop the mighty Hilux and myself in BigPoo the Y62 met up. We chilled out chatting and waiting for one last member to show that had RSVPD, not mentioning names “cough Robert cough”. And at about 10:20 with no sign of him we set off.
Me being the only one having done this track before the others had no idea what they were in for. After a short drive through the back streets of Larapinta we arrived at the big power and water water tank that marks the start of the track. After taking some time to air down we were straight into it with a big climb up and over the ridge. The First half of this track is a series of about 6 or 7 climbs and decents in and out of a series of valleys. It’s very Rocky terrain and a lot of the track has steep banks either side so you don’t have a lot of options of possible of lines to attack the climbs and with erosion and people digging out parts of the climbs by spinning wheels it makes this track very much big tyre and difflock country, unfortunately Aaron had neither. All things considered he did very well but did have to make use of one of the chicken tracks and we had to get the winch’s out to safety get him through one of the tougher sections.
The track it self is relatively short at only 5km ish but it still took us about an hour and a half so we made the decision to cut the track short and not carry on through to Smith st. Was a very good trip with a little bit of carnage but will save that for the dobbers diary.

Thanks everyone for coming out.
