Andado, Mt Dare, Dalhousie & return 2023

A group of 7 vehicles left Heavitree Gap on Saturday morning 29th April 2023 & called into the Santa Teresa Catholic Church to view the magnificent local murals then proceeded through Allambie Station to Andado, lunching at the Mac Clark Reserve. There was still some residual mud from the earlier rains, but there were no great challenges presented. We spent time at Old Andado, bled & started the old Perkins Generator to pump some water up, then continued on along the Binns Track through the flood outs. We didn’t strike any problems until an extended water covered section of track presented, but we all made it through that one, a Nisan towing a Camper was not so lucky on the approach to Mt Dare though, requiring a Ranger to rescue it. Dinner at Mt Dare was enjoyable as usual. On Sunday we travelled to Dalhousie via Bloods Creek & there were some challenges near the Federal Ruins with a dep, soft creek, but all made it through. The return journey saw another bogged ute, this time the Hilux, a Ranger to the rescue again, by this time our group had grown to 5 Rangers with a Victorian couple tagging along from Mt Dare, 2 Toyotas & a Nissan. Another night at Mt Dare, refuelled at Finke where some came back via the South Road, 3 others went to the lambert Centre & returned via Kulgera.
