Side Scraper/Widow maker

4 Mar 2022 by Rhys Boehm

Meeting at the rail way on Lovegrove as planned.
Headed off into the hills. Very quickly realizing that the track is extremely overgrown due to recent rains and realizing it is rather difficult to navigate. Moving on into the hills we have found that the rain has created some rather difficult to see obstacles, but nothing too bad.

Starting into the climbs first the climb just before sidescraper. Done with a little bit of planning and a bit of spotting. Then onto sidescraper. Again with spotting and guidance to help each other through was achieved safely with a little bit of a scare and wheel lifts. Once all up onwards we went. Up and down through the hills.

With side scraper out of the way the confidence in some people in both themselves and their car has changed and improved amazingly. Next we are posed with what looked like a small incline which once on it and aiming for the stars we soon realized its a little steeper than we thought. Glad we didn’t take the more challenging line with a rather big step up, we all made it up safely.

Continued on with it starting to get dark after the amazing sunset. We made our way out. We chose to pass on the drinks on the hill as we are all running a tad later than we expected. On the way out due to the over grown grass, somehow managed to come out at Stirling Heights and not Albrecht Drive (my bad).

A fantastic evening was had by the few members who joined. I urge anyone who wishes to come for the more challenging drive (even if it is in the passenger seat), the views are absolutely amazing at the moment.

Amazingly to see the on the thermometer in the car the difference in temperature between the valleys as we made our way through.
