A long way going nowhere

3 cars met up at the Larapinta Iga, myself in my Ranger, Michael and Ang in the Jeep and Bernhard and Sheena in the Land-Cruiser. We proceeded to join the power lines track off Murry St. It Was a nice easy scenic drive over looking the town. We exited that section of track onto Lovegrove drive where we rejoined the power lines at the end of Smith st on the northern side of the train tracks and traveled north towards the Stuart Hwy. This was defiantly my favorite section, it is a lot less traveled, following creek beds through the hills with a couple of spots just difficult enough to keep things interesting without being too crazy. We crossed the Stuart Hwy just north of the MVR and proceeded down the track to Wigleys waterhole following parts of the old Stuart Hwy built during the war. Being a small group we had made good time arrived abit early for lunch at the waterhole and as there was a couple having a picnic there the decision was made to leave them in peace and move the BBQ to the pot bell look out, Checking out the old explosive bunkers on the way. All in all I felt in was a really enjoyable short local trip with great company, thank you all for coming along. Cheers James
