20km sand dune

18 Mar 2017 by Kirsten Johnston

There were a fair few of us today for the 20km sand dune trip, about 12 or 13 vehicles in total – great turn out. We met at Heavy Tree Gap and aired down for the Old South Road drive. The drive out there was relatively uneventful.

Everybody had a chance to cruise around the sand dune and drive up and over it. Due to the heat, the sand was less compact. Some people chose to deflate their tyres further to increase the surface area – this allows the vehicle to sit on top of the sand rather than dig in.

There was some experimenting with engaging diff lockers on the sand dunes. People had a bit of a chat and a look under the hood of a couple of vehicles and then we aired up and headed back to Alice.
