15/10/16 - Fish and Chips on the hill

16 Oct 2016 by Stephanie Dominguez

We had six vehicles meet at Eastside Fish and Chips to pickup our dinner and make our way to the perfect sunset spot for this evening.

A few new friends joined us. It was great to get to know them, welcome them to town, and show them areas they hadn’t seen.

We headed to the pot-belly lookout off Undoolya Road, East-side. It has panoramic views of the MacDonnell Ranges, and North across the Telegraph Station.

The F&C were demolished, and we sat back to enjoy the serenity.

The sun set in a spectacular orange glow beside Mt. GIllen, and we discussed the options for our trip home… it was either direct back to Undoolya Road, or North along the river bed, and back across the range for some after dark exploring.

The unanimous consensus was to continue, and explore.

North, then West, then South… meandering along some interesting tracks.

We stopped to watch the Fireworks signalling the end of the Masters Games for 2016, then across Undoolya Road to head back towards Stephens Road.

We ran into some cheeky kangaroos, who stood their ground (and posed for photos) with us creeping up on them from only meters away.

All arriving home safely before 8pm.
