12 August 2016 -

The request came from Meegan Sullivan of Old Andado Station for some one to collect a Belgian Adventurer, Loius-Philippe Loncke from the airport at 12.30pm on Friday 12/08/16, bring him back into town to collect his permit, final supplies, visit Lone Dingo, and take him out to Old Andado.

In the end Ian Clarke put his hand up, leaving for Old Andado at 3.00 pm for a fast trip, arriving just after dusk at 6.40 pm. Nobody else was able to join the trip.

Steaks were cooked in the Old Andado kitchen with John & Liz Mills, the caretakers from the Toyota Landcruiser 4WD Club from Melbourne.

LouPhi filled his 40 litres of water & packed his 71.3kg backpack. An early rise & Ian cooked a full bacon & egg breakfast & the walk across the Simpson to catch his plane from Birdsville commenced at 0830, Saturday 13th August. His route is via the Geographic Centre of the Simpson, Poeppel Corner, then, hopefully Birdsville.

The day was spent with the Mill’s helping bury water pipes & chopping wood, then a lamb roast cooked in the old oven, returning on Sunday with the return trip taking 3 hours 35 minutes.

The Mills’ would love visits from the Outback 4WD Club if possible during their 7 week stay, ending about 23rd September.
