Social BBQ - Junction Waterhole

7 August 2016 -

We are getting quite fond of our social evenings/BBQ’s – they are a great opportunity to get out for a 4WD and get to know some of your fellow Club members. On this occasion, we opted to travel north rather than our usual west bound drive up to the lookout. It’s always good to change it up a little!

There were six vehicles in attendance with the F-truck taking the lead without really knowing where Junction Waterhole is! Matt and Kathryn took an alternate route to avoid the hill of death – a triplex track with varying degrees of difficulty leading to Junction Waterhole; it was full of large ruts and loose gravel. I distinctly recall my child yelling in the backseat “we’re going to die!”, but we made it in the end.

The BBQ was a pleasurable affair – Johno, the ‘Club Cook’, manned the BBQ, the kids got muddy in a nearby waterhole and the adults got to have a bit of chit chat. We packed up around sunset and headed back into town, everyone with full bellies and smiles on their faces.
