Owen Springs Reserve - Night Drive

14 May 2016 -

We met at Heavitree Gap and started our journey at approximately 18.05, slightly after sunset.

There were three vehicles in all – we drove via the Stuart Highway to the south entrance of Owen springs reserve and the sky line on the drive out there was incredible.

We checked out Redbank waterhole, but there was no water. We did a bit of sand driving and found a few large puddles to drive through at the northern end of the reserve.

The Old Homestead is worth a visit at night. The sky was so clear and the stars were bright. Mars was quite vivid to the east.

All in all, a very nice cruisy drive for a Friday night. A great way to see in the weekend.

Photo’s thanks to Kirsten Johnston.
