21 February 2016 -

A small group of us (3 vehicles) set out on Saturday arvo on the Old South Road for a leisurely drive to the Ewangina Rock Carvings, approximately 35 kilometres south of Alice Springs.

There was a nice walking loop around several rocky outcrops with an adjacent clay pan, which was dry. The petroglyphs were very interesting to see and are a link to the activities of the early Arrernte Aboriginal people.

It was a steaming hot day, so we didn’t hang around too long making our way back to the 20 kilometre sand dunes for a bit of sand driving.

Dennis and Johno had a few goes of the sand dune before we all decided to head back to Alice.

It was an enjoyable drive and Steph got to “break-in” the new tyres on the Rubicon.
