Christmas in July

23 Jul 2017 by Kirsten Johnston

Xmas in July is held in July because it is generally the coldest month of the year in Australia. It makes up for our hot, sweaty and fly-smothered xmas in December.

With that in mind, we all met at the Ross River Resort campground for a night of celebration, hearty meals and a warm, crackling fire. Oh and jelly shots!

Traditionally, xmas in July is a good reason to get pissed, be merry and emulate the cold weather the northern hemisphere enjoy during December. And the weather gods did not disappoint – it was bullshit cold that night. For those who did not bring electric blankets anyway….

It was a fantastic evening – such a great turn out by club members. It was great to see everybody, share food and stories, and even poetry! I think this event is a club tradition in the making. Thanks to everyone who turned up and shared their good food and amazing company.
